Injuries are piling up for the Washington Capitals, who could be without as many as three regular players against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Defenseman Karl Alzner (upper body) and left wing Marcus Johansson (lower body) are listed as day-to-day after suffering injuries during the team’s recent trip to Canada. Defenseman Brooks Orpik will miss his 12th straight game because of a lower-body injury.
Alzner and Johansson were not at practice Monday, and Trotz said he’ll know Tuesday morning whether either will play. Orpik participated for the start of practice, but after a drill, he left the ice frustrated.
