Per the NHL, John Carlson has been named the second star of the week, with eight points in four games to continue his torrid start to the season. Carlson’s hot hand has him not only leading all defensemen in scoring - where he currently enjoys a seven-point cushion over the rest of the pack - but all skaters overall, narrowly edging out two-time Art Ross Trophy winner Connor McDavid.
(Worth noting, by the way, that it could be a two-point lead over McDavid had his goal against Colorado held up.)
Carlson has posted a League-best six multi-point games already this season (including three three-point outings, two of which occurred this week), with 12 of his 18 points earned at even strength and two game-winning goals for good measure.
