The Washington Capitals’ unexpected three-day break caused by the massive snowstorm that hit the Washington, D.C., area this weekend was both good and unfortunate for defenseman John Carlson. He got some extra rest for the lower-body injury that has kept him out of the lineup for 12 games, but he was also forced away from the rink for three days.
Carlson was back practicing with teammates Monday, and Coach Barry Trotz said he’s unsure whether Carlson will play against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. Trotz had said Carlson was “doubtful” against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday had the game been played.
