Johansson, Latta skate, but won't play Monday because of injuries

Forwards Marcus Johansson and Michael Latta, both nursing what have been described as slight injuries, skated during Sunday afternoon’s practice, but Capitals Coach Barry Trotz will take a cautious approach and not play them in a preseason game at the New York Islanders on Monday.

Trotz said earlier in training camp that Johansson has a “wrenched back” and the plan was for him to play in New York, as the top-six winger has yet to appear in a preseason game. But Trotz said after Sunday’s practice that Johansson is still being monitored and “will play hopefully in Carolina” on Wednesday.
