Joel Ward to Drop Ceremonial Puck on Feb. 23

Ward played four seasons for Washington, most memorably scoring an overtime series-winning goal in the first round of the playoffs to knock out the defending champs, the Boston Bruins, in 2012.

Other events for Black History Month with the Caps include today’s event at Fort Dupont, where Caps defensemen Jonas Siegenthaler and Nick Jensen helped run drills, a STEM event on Feb. 4, and Dreams for Kids on Feb. 7, where Nick Backstrom and Radko Gudas will skate with kids after practice.

After Washington, Ward played three seasons in San Jose, where he made it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
