This story isn’t new but I figured I’d re-up it after NBC Sports Washington’s Nick Ashooh talked about it on Caps pregame Live on Friday.
When Caps forward Nic Dowd played hockey at St. Cloud State, he convinced teammate Nick Jensen and a few other Huskies to grow out their hair, then donate it to make wigs for Locks of Love, a charity that works with cancer patients, especially kids, who lost their hair.
“I kind of suckered them in, in a good way,” Dowd told Molly Williams of USA Today in 2013, as the players needed to grow it at least ten inches.
