How far do the Capitals need to go this season to not be considered a disappointment?

The lofty predictions keep piling up for the Washington Capitals. Three weeks ago, The Hockey News predicted that Ted Leonsis’s team would finish first in the Metropolitan division. Yesterday, ESPN’s Scott Burnside took that a step further, saying that not only would they be division champs, but that the Caps would advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1998.

Leonsis, in a surprisingly (somewhat) defeatist tone, blogged about the prediction, calling them “jinx pixels.” I don’t know about you, but most Caps fans I know are extremely confident that the team will go 82-0 and hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup after four penalty-free shutout games in the Finals.
