Last night, VP of Hockey Operations Bryan Helmer announced that the Hershey Bears will be taking the game back outside as part of the team’s 80th Anniversary Season.
In 2013, the Bears took on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Hershey Park Stadium. Unfortunately for the Chocolate and White, the Pens would win in overtime 2-1. A year earlier, the Bears took on the Adirondack Phantoms in Citizens Bank Park in front of an AHL record crowd. The Bears also fell in overtime of that contest, 4-3.
In 2018, the Bears will play in their third outdoor game, this time facing the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
