(Caps Outsider)
Capitals rookie Hendrix Lapierre is the 14th player, and first since Christian Djoos, to score in his first NHL game in the team’s history. Others have scored in their first game with the team but had played with other teams first, most recently Anthony Mantha.
Lapierre is also only the seventh Caps player to score while a teenager.
Other recent Caps who scored in their NHL debut are Nathan Walker, Andre Burakovsky, Jakub Klepis, and Alex Ovechkin.
