Getting to Know… Dmitrij Jaskin

Hailing from the Southwestern Siberian city of Omsk in Russia but recognized by his Czech upbringing, 25 year old winger Dmitrij Jaskin is a relatively new face to the D.C. area, having joined the Capitals in October 2018 after being claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Blues. Jaskin joins one of the most culturally diverse rosters in the NHL, alongside fellow Russian countrymen Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov, plus Czech natives Jakub Vrana
and Michal Kempny.

Beginning his elite hockey experience in HC Vsetin’s youth programs in the Czech Republic, Jaskin soon found himself transferring to Slavia Praha between 2008 and 2012 where he recorded 66 goals and 60 assists as part of the U18 and U20 teams.
