The NHL announced this afternoon that Capitals forward Garnet Hathaway has been suspended for three games for the spitting incident involving Anaheim’s Erik Gudbranson. Hathaway will sit without pay for those games.
At the time of the incident, Hathaway was assessed a match penalty and the Capitals went on to win the game 5-2.
Hathaway will forfeit $24,193.53 under the terms of the Collective Bargaining agreement, with that money going to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The winger has two goals and five assists in 23 games played so far this season.
