UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Less than four minutes into the Washington Capitals‘ 2-1 overtime loss to the New York Islanders, forward Eric Fehr absorbed a crunching check from forward Kyle Okposo to the left shoulder that knocked him from the rest of Sunday afternoon. On just his second shift, Fehr bent over in pain after Okposo finished the hit, chatted briefly with trainer Greg Smith on the bench and finally retreated into the tunnel during a television timeout.
Coach Barry Trotz had no update available on Fehr during his postgame news conference.
“I went in the dressing room right after the game for a couple minutes and I’ll get my full report, my complete report a little bit later,” he said.
