While his teammates arrived one by one to answer questions about their pending Game 7 with the New York Islanders, forward Eric Fehr wore a smile Sunday afternoon inside the empty Washington Capitals locker room, dressing for his first time back on the ice.
He skated alone with strength coach Mark Nemish at the team’s practice facility, only up and back and around the rink, without any other hockey-related activities mixed in, the first step in his on-ice recovery. Fehr suffered an upper-body injury – evidently located in the left shoulder – during Game 3’s overtime loss at Nassau Coliseum, when forward Kyle Okposo crunched him into the boards.
