When Taylor Chorney came back to the Washington Capitals bench, he was as dumbfounded as the rest of his teammates. He had been on the ice for Dmitry Orlov’s goal, and he still had no idea where the puck had gone or how Orlov had managed to fool everyone.
“No one knew where the puck was,” defenseman Nate Schmidt said.
“Houdini,” goaltender Braden Holtby said.
“I had no clue,” Coach Barry Trotz said. “I thought it was in the stands. I had no idea.”
Orlov carried the puck into the offensive zone, faked a shot and instead pulled the puck between his legs, leaving two Colorado players trailing him.
