There’s hot, there’s on fire, and then there’s whatever Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov is right now. Orlov is having a scoring spree that most defensemen could only dream of having. Orlov scored a second-period goal from near the blue line against the Winnipeg Jets to give him a goal in each of his last three games.
Orlov also scored against the Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado Avalanche. Before his goal against the Avalanche, Orlov had gone over 18 months since his last NHL goal. His previous NHL goal before Saturday’s goal against the Avalanche was in March of 2014 against the Philadelphia Flyers.
