One day after the Stanley Cup championship parade, Capitals winger Devante Smith-Pelly signed autographs at the DICKS in Gaithersburg.
To keep control over the crowd, DICKS handed out 350 red wristbands starting at 9 am which guaranteed an autograph from the Stanley Cup champion. People were lining up as early as 7 am to get those wristbands. Those participants were then let in at 5, but some started lining up as early as 2.
Those who did not get red wristbands were given blue wristbands which did not guarantee anything. Many people lined up both inside and outside the store.
