It’s been a while since a former Washington Capitals player won a Stanley Cup, but that’s only because we’ve forgotten about Jeff Schultz hoisting it with the Los Angeles Kings two years ago.
This time, a former well-liked Cap earned a championship, as Eric Fehr won with perhaps the most-hated hockey team in Washington, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Fehr, who was drafted by the Caps, played nine seasons in Washington, splitting to Winnipeg in 2011-12 before returning for three more seasons. He had 87 goals and 87 assists in 419 games for the Caps.
