The Capitals have announced they have re-signed goaltending prospect Vitek Vanecek to a three-year extension worth a total of $2.15 million. The first year of Vanecek’s contract will be a two-way contract ($700,000 NHL; $160,000 AHL), while the final two years will be one-way ($700,000 and $750,000). The AAV is slightly more than $716K a season.
Vanecek, 23, was the Caps second round draft pick, 39th overall, in 2014. After spending a year with South Carolina in the ECHL, Vanecek has spent the last three seasons in Hershey.
