The Capitals have signed Yale forward Joe Snively to a two-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Monday.
Snively, a native of Herndon, Virginia, played in the Little Caps program growing up, and eventually was drafted into the USHL to play with the Sioux City Muskateers, putting up 50 goals and 125 points.
“It’s pretty cool for this area, for fans and the kids,” Alex Ovechkin said about signing Snively and influencing local players throughout his career. “They see the progress that hockey did in the United States and obviously in D.C., and it’s pretty cool.
