Plus: After struggling to find the rhythm of their game against the Sharks on Tuesday, the Washington Capitals played some solid hockey at Scotiabank Arena. They were fairly evenly matched against the Toronto Maple Leafs, particularly through the first two periods. They didn’t take their foot off the gas in the final frame, and Connor McMichael rewarded his teammates with the go-ahead goal about halfway through.
Minus: The Capitals had four power play opportunities tonight, including one in the third period, and they couldn’t convert on any of them.
Our three stars:
*** John Tavares (1G)
** Nic Dowd (1G, 3SOG)
* Connor McMichael (1G, 5SOG)
