There are plenty of story lines for Wednesday’s matchup between the worst team in the league and the best. It’s also Brooks Laich’s return to Washington after he was traded to Toronto over the weekend. Daniel Winnik is making his debut for the Capitals against his old team, the Maple Leafs.
Laich said he expects it to be emotional, and he’ll root for the Capitals in every game except this one. Expect Verizon Center to have a tribute video for him. Former Capitals prospect defenseman Connor Carrick is also in Toronto’s lineup. Coach Barry Trotz figures it’ll be awkward.
