Capitals vs. Hurricanes Third Period Thread

Things really got cooking in the second period!

Two minutes into the frame, defenseman Michal Kempny called his own number, blasting a massive slapper from well north of the left circle that struck the back of the net, 1-0 Washington. It was Kempny’s first tally as a Capital!

But while fans were still celebrating, Carolina struck back a mere 40 seconds later courtesy of a net-crashing Derek Ryan who tied it 1-1.

And halfway through the frame, the Hurricanes’ Justin Faulk made Chandler Stephenson and the Caps pay for a sloppy, zone-stuck shift by undressing the young forward like wet snow clothes, staking the Canes to a 2-1 lead after two.
