Friday night featured the second game of a back to back for both the Washington Capitals and the Calgary Flames. The Flames lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night, while the Caps downed Philadelphia 5-2.
The game started much better for Calgary than Washington, outshooting the Caps by a wide margin at the halfway mark of the period, and earning a power play on which they did not score. The Caps would answer the Flames start with a flurry of chances that should have put the Capitals up 2-0, but Flames goaltender Kari Ramo would not allow it.
