The Capitals entered their contest against the New Jersey Devils with an 11 point lead over their guests in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams earned a standings point but it was Jacob Josefson tallying the clinching goal in the shootout’s second round.

- Plus: The Capitals’ penalty killing units were great tonight and excellent when they needed to be. They also potted an important third period goal to complete a stellar evening of work.
- Minus: Early in the second period Evgeny Kuznetsov continued to make poor decisions with the puck.
