Capitals vs. Canucks Recap: Washington Wins Wild One Out West

On the road in Vancouver for the second half of a back-to-back and three in four nights the Capitals mounted an impressive third period comeback before winning 6 to 5 in a shootout.

Here’s Friday night’s Plus/Minus:

Plus: Two goal games from Michal Kempny and Evgeny Kuznetsov? Yes please.

Minus: Washington was pierced three times through 9 minutes of play during the second period (nearly putting the contest out of reach).

Eleven more notes on the game.

  1. Early in the first Kuznetsov put Washington ahead by one. A poor turnover from Micheal Ferland led to a Jakub Vrana pass that Kuznetsov stuffed into the net behind Jacob Markstrom.
