Capitals vs. Bolts Recap: Stamkos Snipe Silences Caps

In Washington’s first game against the defending Stanley Cup Champions the Capitals bested Tampa Bay 2 to 1 in overtime.

Here’s Saturday night’s Plus/Minus:

Plus: Lars Eller skated in his 800th career NHL game (and his 358th with Washington).

Minus: Martin Fehervary was noticeable at the wrong moment a couple of times tonight.

Nine more notes on the game:

  1. With two minutes to play in the first period Alex Killorn put the puck behind Vitek Vanecek for an early lead. The Capitals challenged the goal, citing that the puck went off the safety netting, and their assertion was confirmed upon review.
