Plus: The Caps weren’t particularly bad through the first 40 but you could tell they’d been off for many days, and it seemed like they were in danger of getting shut out by Jet Greaves. Aliaksei Protas striking roughly 30 seconds into the third period was huge to get his team back into this one.
Minus: Too many penalties. Before the second period was over, the Caps had been whistled for five minors and given up a power-play goal. The Jackets may not be in the top tier of power play teams in the league, but they’re still an NHL squad, and if you give any team that many chances they’re bound to cash in eventually.
