The Washington Capitals signed forward Joe Snively, a 23-year-old forward from Yale, to a two-year entry-level contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Snively is a native of Herndon, Virginia, who skated with the Washington Little Caps youth program as a kid and trained at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington.
As a senior at Yale, Snively had 15 goals (including five power-play goals) and 21 assists in 33 games. As a freshman in 2015-16, he was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
His contract begins with the 2019-2020 season, but he could report to the AHL Hershey Bears on a PTO.
