While the wait continues for the results of goaltender Braden Holtby’s arbitration hearing, the Washington Capitals added some defensive depth to the organization Friday morning, signing Ryan Stanton to a one-year, two-way deal. The 26-year-old arrives after spending the past two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, appearing in 119 total games.
An undrafted free agent who rose parlayed three American Hockey League seasons into his NHL debut with Chicago in 2012-13, Stanton will likely bring a veteran presence to an expectedly young blue line in Hershey, where three professional rookies — Madison Bowey, Tyler Lewington and Christian Djoos — will compete for time.
