The Washington Capitals have recalled center Zach Sill from the American Hockey League, the team announced. The recall could speak to the health of third-line center Marcus Johansson, who went back to the Capitals’ locker room in the first period against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday and was ruled out with an upper-body injury.
The Capitals said over the all-star break that Johansson is “day-to-day” and would be re-evaluated on Monday.
With Alex Ovechkin already suspended for Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers, the Capitals didn’t have any extra forwards for the game until the recall.
