The Washington Capitals re-signed Madison Bowey to a two-year, $2 million contract, the team announced Thursday.
Bowey played in 51 games as a rookie and made 12 assists. He did not appear for the team during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He’s the latest blueliner the Capitals have locked in to new deals, after John Carlson and Michal Kempny, assuring they will bring back six of their best eight defensemen from last year’s Stanley Cup-winning team. Jakub Jerabek, who the Capitals acquired at the trade deadline, remains unsigned and an unrestricted free agent, while Brooks Orpik also has been a UFA ever since the Colorado Avalanche acquired him from Washington and then waived him.
