Capitals' power play struggling with execution

The Washington Capitals‘ power play is still ranked first in the league, scoring an average of 23.2 percent of the time time this season. But it has looked slightly off lately, with just four goals in its past 39 chances.

The Capitals don’t always measure their power play a success or failure based on if a goal is scored, as good goaltending isn’t in their control. The focus is on the process, generating chances and getting into their 1-3-1 formation. But especially in the past two games, getting set has looked like a struggle, as Washington’s zone entries haven’t been clean.
