It’s one of the more obscure statistics for the Washington Capitals: They are 21-0-5 when Jay Beagle has scored a goal during his career. When his wrist shot from the right faceoff circle got past Montreal goaltender Mike Condon on Saturday night to give Washington a 2-0 lead, a victory was all but assured.
When told that the Capitals’ record is perfect in regulation when Beagle scores, winger Tom Wilson chuckled and said, “Yeah, I know.”
“When you see Beags score a goal like that, yeah, for sure, it’s uplifting,” Wilson said. “The top two lines, we’ve got some of the most skilled players in the world.
