The Washington Capitals officially put the Tom Wilson trade fantasy to bed on the morning of Friday August 4 by re signing him to a seven year extension worth $45.5 million. It will kick in during the 2024 25 season and will carry an average annual value (AAV) of $6.5 million.
That means Wilson will be a Capital through the 2030 31 season.
Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said in a press release:
“Tom possesses all the intangibles needed to win in this League and we are extremely pleased to sign him to a long-term contract, giving him the opportunity to finish his career in a Capitals’ uniform.
