Before Monday’s deadline for issuing qualifying offers to pending restricted free agents, the Washington Capitals declined to do so for minor-leaguers Edward Pasquale, Brandon Anderson and Patrick Wey, each of whom will become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
In similarly expected moves, the Capitals also tendered qualifying offers to forward Marcus Johansson, forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, goaltender Braden Holtby, forward Stanislav Galiev and forward Chris Brown. They had already re-signed pending restricted free agents Philipp Grubauer and Nate Schmidt to two-year, one-way extensions. Even if Johansson, Kuznetsov, Holtby, Galiev or Brown reject their qualifying offers, they would remain restricted free agents.
