The Washington Capitals revealed their roster for next week’s four-team rookie tournament in Estero, Fla., a 23-man mix of AHL-bound prospects, recent draftees and free agents tabbed for a closer look. The three-game, four-day event begins on Sept. 12 against the Florida Panthers and runs through Sept. 15, in lieu of the usual rookie camp held at their facility in Arlington.
The most notable names traveling to Germain Arena, home of the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, include 2013 second-round pick Madison Bowey, 2014 first-round pick Jakub Vrana, 2015 second-rounder Jonas Siegenthaler, Hershey Bears center Chandler Stephenson and forward Liam O’Brien, the biggest surprise of last fall’s training camp who appeared in 13 games with the Capitals during his debut professional season.
