Caps defenseman and alternate captain Brooks Orpik went to Fort Dupont Ice Arena on Saturday, volunteering his time to help spruce up the arena. For 10th consecutive year, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation hosted the project, as Orpik and other volunteers painted locker rooms, hallways and classrooms, cleaned and repaired speed mats and helmets, reorganized all the rental skates, waxed the boards, painted the parking lot and many other things.
Elizabeth Pace, Executive Director of MSE Foundation, said that the Fort Dupont Ice Arena is very important for MSE and the Washington Capitals because it is the only indoor ice rink in DC that serves a lot of kids that don’t have the money to play hockey.
