From the far left point, like a defenseman, Brett Connolly lofted a shot past Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk on Friday to continue his hot streak of late. It was the 21st goal of Connolly’s season – but also his fourth goal in the past five games.
The way Connolly is getting his goals is impressive, considering he’s doing so on the third line, with limited minutes, no power play time and 5-on-5. He’s also shooting more than 16% – second on the team only to Tom Wilson.
In the Caps 2-1 loss to the Wild, he ended up with 13:18 of ice time and four shots, tied with John Carlson for the team lead in that game.
