ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Hockey League announced today that Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby is one of three finalists for the Vezina Trophy, which is an annual award given to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position as voted by the general managers of all NHL clubs. Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick and Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop have also been nominated. The 2016 NHL Awards will be held on Wednesday, June 22, at The Joint, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s state-of-the-art concert and entertainment venue.
Holtby is vying to become the third goaltender in Capitals franchise history to win the Vezina Trophy, joining Jim Carey (1995-96) and Olie Kolzig (1999-00).
