Bears Smother Bruins in Teddy Bear Toss game

HERSHEY, Pa — The Hershey Bears used a strong second period to smother the Providence Bruins 5-1 after 102,343 teddy bears and other stuffed animals were thrown on to the ice following the first Bears goal.

The teddy bear toss goal scored by Mike Sgarbossa would tie the game at one with just over five minutes remaining in the the opening period. It was the first of five unanswered goals scored for Hershey.

“It was a very good day,” Bears head coach Todd Nelson said. “The teddy bear toss worked out, we scored with just over five minutes left in the first period.
