Detroit goaltender Petr Mrazek pivoted to his right and moved to the top of the crease, anticipating the thunderous one-timer. The Washington Capitals were on the power play, down a goal with less than five minutes left in the game, and Mrazek knew the puck would eventually find its way to Alex Ovechkin.
On Ovechkin’s 12th shot of the game, from his power-play sweet spot in the left faceoff circle, even the Comcast SportsNet broadcasting duo of Craig Laughlin and Joe Beninati noticed how Mrazek anticipated the power play’s next move.
“He was there before Alex even got the puck, Joe,” Laughlin exclaimed on the air.
