(Caps Outsider)
With his 274th power play goal Wednesday against Chicago, Caps captain Alex Ovechkin tied Dave Andreychuk on the all-time NHL power play goal list. And he did it against his longtime foe, Marc-Andre Fleury.
If there’s a tie-breaker for this record, that should go to Ovi, as he’s played 413 fewer games – about five full seasons – than Andreychuk.
Andreychuk, a Hall of Famer, doesn’t have any other NHL records, having achieved this one mainly because of the number of games he played (plus his skill, of course), not to mention Wayne Gretzky‘s tendency to pile up assists on the power play instead of goals.
