Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 40th goal of the season Friday, marking the eighth time he hit that mark in his 11-season career.
Two came in the relatively forgettable 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, when he only scored 32, and then 38 goals. The other came in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, when his 32 goals in the 48-game season was a resurgence.
Ovechkin scored his 40th in the third period on the power play, which tied the game against the Wild at 2-2.
Ovechkin ties it on the PP in the 3rd #CapsWild 2-2 with 14 mins to go pic.
