With two quick goals in Tuesday’s game in Vancouver, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin passed Wayne Gretzky for all-time NHL road goals with 403. Ovechkin did this in 652 road games, compared to Gretzky’s 742. However, Gretzky’s all-time home goal lead is 102 ahead of Ovi in 99 more games. They were goals number 792 and 793 in his career.
Ovechkin’s first goal came after creating a turnover and scoring in close on Spencer Martin.
Minutes later, he scored his second of the opening period on a one-timer from his office.
