(Caps Outsider)
For the second time this season, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin passed Gordie Howe, this time for a record 787th goal with a single team, one better than Howe who scored 786 in his career with the Detroit Red Wings. The others aren’t even close, including Steve Yzerman with 692 and Mario Lemieux with 690.
Earlier this season, Ovechkin passed Howe with 122 game-winning goals, one better than Howe, though he still trails Jaromir Jagr, who has 135.
The goal came in the second period against the Phoenix Coyotes on the power play, giving the Caps a 1-0 lead.
