Alex Ovechkin hit another milestone in Saturday’s 4-1 victory against Nashville. With his empty-net goal, he scored his 20th of the season, giving him at least 20 goals in each of his 20 seasons. It’s not record, though, as he’s tied with Ron Francis, while the all-time leader is Gordie Howe, with 23 20-goal seasons.
Ovechkin, however, owns the record for 30 and 40-goal seasons, while he shares it for 50-goal seasons, so this 20-goal non-record isn’t that big of a deal.
Either way, there are bigger fish to fry, as Ovechkin is now only 22 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most NHL goals in a regular season.
