UNIONDALE, N.Y. – The thrill of coaching before the thundering crowd at Nassau Coliseum Sunday was not lost on Barry Trotz during the opening period, when he yelled himself hoarse. Trotz enjoyed the experience on the bench. He did not, however, enjoy what happened on the ice.
“It was pretty hairy,” Trotz said. “It was pretty wild. It was fun. I would’ve liked to have not been outshot 11-0 in the first 10 minutes. But we fed a lot of that.”
Another slow start from the Capitals ultimately proved inconsequential once they escaped into intermission with Game 3 still scoreless, but to Trotz it emphasized a larger issue for his team during the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
