Alex Ovechkin doesn’t fight much – just four times in his career – but plenty of people were shocked to see him throw down with 19-year-old Andrei Svechnikov on Tuesday as the Hurricanes beat the Caps, 5-0, in Game 3, knocking the Russian rookie out of the game.
It was the fourth pro fight for Ovechkin, and the first since 2010. Ovechkin famously battled Brandon Dubinsky in 2010 as the Caps were losing badly to the Rangers and Ovi told him ‘good job, buddy,’ as chronicled in HBO’s “24/7: Road to the Winter Classic.
