It was a strange situation, no doubt about that, but the two players involved made the best of their unexpected encounter. Ever since the Washington Capitals dealt Troy Brouwer to the St. Louis Blues, he has continued training at their Arlington facility, using an auxiliary locker room but sharing workouts with defenseman Connor Carrick. And so Friday morning, as Brouwer guzzled water after an on-ice session, the man for whom the Capitals traded wandered behind the bench, taking a tour of the place and checking out the rink.
“Osh,” Brouwer said, spotting forward T.J. Oshie and extending a hand to say hello.
