Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz has been pleased with the development of rookie winger Evgeny Kuznetsov, and that's leading to more ice time for the 22-year-old. Kuznetsov has seen the most minutes in his career over the past six games, and Trotz says he's earning the increase in minutes.
“It’s trust, it’s production, it’s everything from those hard battle areas,” Trotz said via the Washington Post. “I actually, a few games back, didn’t like the matchup, we were matching up with the other team’s top two lines and we weren’t handling one of their lines very well, so I moved Kuzy into his line to take on that challenge, and he actually dominated. That line, when they’re on, playing the way they can, they can be very productive.”
Kuznetsov has six goals and 18 assists so far this season.
